Bayside Academy completed the 2015 season with a 11-4 record. With their 5-1 region record and a second place finish in Class 3A region one, the Admirals earned a spot in the playoffs in 2015. The Admirals won four consecutive playoff games to reach the Class 3A State Championship game only to fall just short of claiming a title. They were defeated by Piedmont at the Alabama Super Seven 44-7 in Auburn. No team at Bayside Academy ever won more games in a season than the eleven victories last year. The Admirals hope to continue the success they had last season. Coach Lazenby saw improvement as they won eleven games following a 4-6 record in 2014. Since 2010, Bayside Academy has gone a combined 50-25. Their 67.0% winning percentage ranks 9th in Class 3A over the past six seasons. Over the past 15 seasons, Bayside Academy has managed to compile a record of 90-73. Their 55.0% winning percentage ranks 22nd in Class 3A and 132nd in the AHSAA. The Admirals are led by head coach Phil Lazenby who is entering his tenth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 68-40 over the past nine seasons at Bayside Academy. Under his direction the Admirals have qualified for the playoffs a total of seven times. They have won one region crown with Coach Lazenby. Coach Lazenby's overall record as a head football coach in nineteen season stands at 153-76 (66.8%). His 153 wins rank 19th among active coaches in the AHSAA. Over the course of his career, Coach Lazenby's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of fifteen times and won seven region championships. The Bayside Academy Admirals will play in Class 3A region one during the 2016 season. Bayside Academy will face six opponents that reached the playoffs last season. Bayside Academy enters the 2016 season with a string of 8 consecutive wins on their home field at Freedom Field. The Admirals should be considered one of the favorites for the region one championship this season and a home game in the first round of the playoffs. The Admirals open the 2016 season at home against non-region opponent St. James on Friday, August 19 at Freedom Field. Last year the St. James Trojans finished with an overall record of 6-5 and in third place in Class 4A region two. The Trojans lost in the first round of the Class 4A playoffs to Montevallo by a score of 21-7. Bayside Academy and St. James have met a total of 4 times on the football field.
